Introducing High Yield Harry's Community

Hey everyone. I normally don’t email on Sunday mornings, but I’m so amped up I couldn’t wait to get this out.

On Thursday, beehiiv, the Newsletter email service provider I use, launched a Community feature.

It’s hard to overstate how transformative this is. beehiiv has always been empowering creators to evade the whims of social media algos and reach everyone directly.

Now it’s basically empowering me to run my own social network.

Even as I sit at 1mm followers on X today, my IG feed and story reach has definitely gotten crushed. IG has systematically focused on promoting the content that keeps you swiping mindlessly through the platform. Not good, but we all know Zuck isn’t a saint. So social media long-term was never the entire answer, and is why I have over 150k newsletter readers.

The real alpha is to get away from the algorithms and connect with professionals one on one. This isn’t just my Community, it’s everyone’s community.

So yesterday, launched a community forum called High Yield Harry’s Community.

It’s a free community for current, future, and former finance professionals who want to talk about markets, credit, private equity, the latest finance news, and all the important career and recruiting advice that you need to hear.

This community element was what I was initially going after with Buyside Hub, but we had to deprioritize it to focus on our compensation benchmarking and recruiting offering. Now with this Community, we’re covering all the career and recruiting info under the Buyside Hub channel.

As you can see, beehiiv designed this pretty well, with both a For You and Following tab, plus different channels to cover different topics.

It’s not just going to be me in there, we’re going to have a lot of folks chipping in and if you’re someone asking for career advice there will be a variety of different brains to pick.

We’ve learned from Buyside Hub that a community-based platform where everyone chips in and does their part can provide a ton of collective value. That’s the same thesis here:
